  • Lil Wayne’s 2008-2009 tours supporting Tha Carter III have been named the highest-grossing hip-hop trek of the year, racking up $42 million according to Billboard, besting tours by Jay-Z and Kanye West.

  • Although Jermaine Jackson announced at a press conference yesterday that Mary J. Blige and Chris Brown would both perform at the September 26th Michael Jackson tribute in Vienna, reps for both stars have denied they will take the stage according to E! Online and ABC News.
  • The Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson is expecting his first child with girlfriend Allison Bridges, CNN reports. Robinson and ex-wife Kate Hudson have a five-year-old son.
  • Speech Debelle beat out Bat for Lashes, La Roux and Lisa Hannigan, among others, to claim the U.K.’s Mercury Prize Billboard reports.
  • Snoop Dogg has been named Creative Chairman of EMI’s Priority Records. He’ll also record a new studio album, Malice N Wonderland, which will be the label’s first release, according to a press release.
