Aerosmith Skip Winnipeg Gig, Tyler Breaks Shoulder in Stage Fall

Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler has reportedly broken his shoulder and received some stitches in his head after falling off the stage while dancing during a concert in Sturgis, South Dakota. “[Tyler] hit his head and back. No concussion, stitches in head and back near shoulder. Broken shoulder,” Billie Perry, the wife of guitarist Joe Perry, wrote on her Twitter yesterday. “Yes he is very sore. We were all worried.” According to the band’s Aero Force One site, the band’s concert tonight at Winnipeg, Manitoba’s Canad Inns Stadium has been postponed.

The status of the rest of Aerosmith’s five-concert tour of western Canada has not yet been announced, but Billie Perry Tweeted that the band has traveled back to their native Boston. “Steven will see his own doctor tonight or tomorrow,” Billie Perry added. “No word on the tour when it will resume should know more very soon regarding this.”

After Tyler sustained his injuries, the band’s management initially said, “Steven Tyler did get a bit banged up and had to have a few stitches, but all Canadian dates are going on as planned,” the Winnipeg Free Press writes. However, Tyler’s doctor recommended that the band not perform in Winnipeg. According to the Free Press, the band is still expected to perform Sunday, August 9th in Regina, Saskatchewan.

As Rock Daily reported, Tyler’s fall in South Dakota is just the latest in a long list of health-related incidents that have struck the band during the latest tour. Guitarist Brad Whitford was forced to miss the opening dates of the tour after he bumped his head exiting his Ferrari, requiring surgery.
