Recent Rolling Stone cover star Shakira seems to be taking a page from her “Beautiful Liar” cohort Beyoncé in her new video for “Give It Up To Me,” executing some crisp choreography in a black leotard. But it gets weirder from there: after some fairly straightforward dancing and singing alongside Lil Wayne, Shakira transforms into a multi-armed deity, floating above the ground. Too weird for Beyoncé? We’d have said yes before checking out her latest clip for “Video Phone.” But the real question is how does this compare to all the other similarly titled tracks out there, like Jay-Z’s “I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)” and Madonna’s “Give It 2 Me”?
Rancid also just dropped a new video with a special guest star: skateboarding legend Tony Hawk appears in the clip for “Up To No Good” to raise awareness for the Tony Hawk Foundation, which helps build skate parks for needy kids. Most of the clip shows the band criss-crossing the country on tour or rocking out in black-and-white high contrast — but the video doesn’t really live up to its name (i.e., there’s no proof the band is being naughty).
Monsters of Folk got cinematographer Lance Acord to shoot their new video for “Say Please.” The clip stars the supergroup as World War II soldiers and entertainers at a frontier town roller-skating rink. It’s quaint, cozy and old-timey.
