The music video for Michael Jackson’s “This Is It,” directed by Spike Lee, has premiered on Lee’s 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks Website. Rather than using concert footage from the film of the same title, Lee digs out archival footage of Jackson’s childhood and classic King of Pop moments along with a montage of fan tributes to the singer. Lee’s mini-documentary begins in Gary, Indiana, where the Jackson family started out, and charts Michael’s journey from the Jackson 5 to the Moonwalk.

As Rolling Stone previously reported, “This Is It” was co-written by Jackson and Paul Anka and was the inspiration for the planned This Is It run of 50 concerts at London’s O2 Arena. When Jackson died on June 25th, the rehearsal footage for the shows was instead edited into the film This Is It, which featured “This Is It” in its end credits. The documentary’s theatrical run ended last month, and the film’s DVD will be released on January 26th.
