  • In the wake of his poorly received onstage protest at the VMAs, Kanye West said he needed to take time off — then announced (and promptly canceled) his Fame Kills tour with Lady Gaga. Now MSNBC’s Scoop is reporting the MC has escaped to India to rehabilitate himself.

  • Julian Lennon has recorded a song in honor of the “Lucy” who inspired the Beatles’ “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds” (a schoolmate named Lucy Vodden who died from Lupus last month). Julian will donate some proceeds from “Lucy,” available at The Revolution, to Lupus research.
  • Carrie Underwood’s Christmas special will air on Fox on December 7th and be helmed by American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance gurus Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Dolly Parton and David Cook will guest.
  • Tom Waits has announced a live album titled Glitter and Doom will be released November 24th. According to a press release, the CD set includes 17 tracks from his summer 2008 tour and a second disc called Tom’s Tales that features Waits’ “quixotic ruminations on topics ranging from romantic spiders to injured vultures.”
