New Music Report: Miranda Lambert

November 11th, 2009 by Rolling Stone Leave a reply »

It might’ve been released a month ago, but Rolling Stone contributing editor Christian Hoard is still singing the praises of Miranda Lambert’s third album Revolution in this week’s New Music Report segment “Christian Rock.” (And no, he’s not just being nice because Lambert knows how to handle a firearm, as evidenced here.)

Revolution is a varied, tuneful collection of songs that finds Lambert singing about cheating boyfriends, rednecks and the working class in songs both beautiful and angry. Throw in covers by artists like John Prine and the result is what Hoard calls the second best country album of the year behind Brad Paisley’s American Saturday Night. For more on Lambert’s Revolution, check out the New Music Report above.
