Muse Nod to “Ghostbusters” in Explosive “Uprising” Video

As Muse push new album The Resistance here in the States, for the second time this week the British trio are debuting the first single “Uprising” on the network. Muse performed the track live during the VMAs, and today they revealed the explosive new video for “Uprising.” The opening shot sets the tone for the vid, as a long and winding fuse is ignited to foreshadow the impending “Uprising.”

We can’t watch this video and not think of the miniature town Alec Baldwin’s character constructed in Beetlejuice, except instead of a zombified Michael Keaton wreaking havoc, it’s Muse that’s leading the destruction. To add to the Eighties movie fun in this video, the last quarter of “Uprising” is obviously indebted to Ghostbusters — it’s almost a shot-for-shot remake — as a giant Teddy Bear plays the role of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and goes around pulverizing buildings.
