  • Beatlemania struck again as The Beatles: Rock Band and the band’s studio remasters hit stores. RS looked back at the world’s greatest group in our Essential Beatles hub.

  • American Idol hired Ellen DeGeneres. The show’s insiders (and Paula Abdul) wished Ellen the best while the record industry greeted the announcement by filing a lawsuit against DeGeneres’ talk show.
  • We caught Jay-Z celebrating the release of Blueprint 3 in NYC, the last ever Nine Inch Nails concert in Los Angeles and the Warped Tour’s 15th birthday party with Katy Perry and Ice T. Plus, the Who’s Roger Daltrey previewed his solo tour.
  • Jermaine Jackson had an exciting week: He announced Chris Brown and Mary J. Blige would play the Michael Jackson tribute in Vienna, then they denied it, so he refuted their denials. In the end, the show got postponed and relocated. But we’ll get an eyeful of MJ tributes at this weekend’s VMAs.
