  • Paula Abdul announced via Twitter that she was departing American Idol, leaving host Ryan Seacrest “stunned” and millions of fans wondering why. While the show began searching for a new fourth judge, Season Eight’s Adam Lambert talked Abdul’s exit.
  • Aerosmith’s summer tour experienced yet another setback after Steven Tyler fell off the stage. Tyler suffered a broken shoulder and stitches to the head, forcing the band to postpone at least one concert.
  • Lady Gaga and Beyoncé captured the most Moonman nominations for MTV’s Video Music Awards, securing nine nods apiece. Britney Spears nabbed seven nods, inspiring Rolling Stone’s Rob Sheffield to look back at Spears’ best ̬ and most infamous — VMA moments.
  • Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones revealed plans to debut their new supergroup Them Crooked Vultures at a post-Lollapalooza show on August 9th. To mark the occasion, we looked back at the greatest supergroups of all-time.
