Paramore Strip Down “Brand New Eyes” For “MTV Unplugged”

Paramore’s new album Brand New Eyes isn’t out until tomorrow, but thanks to the resurrected MTV Unplugged Web series, you can hear intimate, acoustic renditions of a pair of songs from their latest LP, plus a trio of their biggest hits, right now. Hayley Williams and the rest of Paramore tackle Brand New Eyes‘ first single “Ignorance” and “Brick By Boring Brick,” along with a sing-along version of Riot!’s “That’s What You Get,” which you can watch in the video up top.

The performance is also worth checking out to see MTV’s new Unplugged set. The candle motif — famously used by Kurt Cobain to light a cigarette during Nirvana’s 1993 MTV Unplugged — is still around, but now the show seems like it’s filmed on a soundstage instead of a actual venue. There’s also an acoustic guitar trapped inside a hanging birdcage and fans sitting cross-legged on the floor, which makes the performance more intimate. Other bands to grace MTV’s digital Unplugged thus far are the Silversun Pickups, Adele, All Time Low and, coming later this year according to a press release, Katy Perry.
