  • The Oscars have posted a 63-song short list of tracks up for consideration for Best Song, which includes Jack White’s “Fly Farm Blues” from It Might Get Loud and Karen O and the Kids’ “All Is Love” from Where the Wild Things Are.

  • Chris Feinstein, the bassist-singer known for his work with Ryan Adams & the Cardinals, has died at age 42. Lost Highway Records confirmed the news, but cause of death is still unreported. Feinstein’s family has set up a Facebook group connected to a memorial fund to help pay for the rocker’s funeral.
  • American Idol creator Simon Fuller has announced a new venture for early 2010 called If I Can Dream, a reality show that will document five aspiring stars’ Hollywood struggles via 24/7 Webcam, constant Twitter contact with viewers, a weekly episode airing on Hulu and MySpace blogs.
  • The still on-hiatus Jon Spencer Blues Explosion are remastering their albums for 2010 reissues packed with bonus tracks, fresh photos and liner notes, Billboard reports. A 22-song compilation called Dirty Shirt Rock N’ Roll: The First Ten Years is also due March 30th.
