  • International ticket sales for the Michael Jackson documentary This Is It are continuing to astonish box-office experts, Variety reports. For the 24 hours after tix went on sale, This Is It racked in 80 percent of online ticketing in the U.S., and more than $1 million in sales in Japan.

  • Miley Cyrus will make a brief appearance in Sex and the City 2. According to the Gossip Cop, the singer has a scene where she shows up to a red-carpet event in the same dress as Kim Cattrell’s character, Samantha.
  • Phoenix are set to contribute music to Sofia Coppola’s new film Somewhere, and as http://theplaylist.blogspot.com/2009/09/phoenix-to-contribute-music-to-sofia.html" Target="blank">the Playlist reports, the news shouldn’t come as too big a shock as the band’s singer, Thomas Mars, is Coppola’s beau.

  • Portishead are in the studio working on the follow-up to 2008’s Third, the BBC reports. Geoff Barrow says the band is label-less at the moment, but won’t self-release an album, because “It would end in a nervous breakdown.”
