- In the wake of DJ AM’s death of an apparent drug overdose, MTV hasn’t revealed whether they’ll air the Intervention-style reality show Adam Goldstein was working on before he died. EW has a synopsis of the premiere episode, in which AM aided a 20-year-old heroin addict and explained how eerie it felt to hold a crack pipe after so many years of recovery.
- Cypress Hill’s Smokeout will be held October 23rd and 24th at the San Manuel Amphitheatre in San Bernardino, California. This year’s music and weed expo boasts Slipknot, the Deftones, Goodie Mob, the Geto Boys and an appearance by the reunited Sublime.
- The Carpenters’ 40th anniversary will be marked with the double-disc 40/40, due October 20th. Richard Carpenter produced the set, which features 40 remastered tracks including two tracks released in 1983 after Karen Carpenter’s death, “Now” and “Your Baby Doesn’t Love You Anymore.”
- New Order’s Bernard Sumner has confirmed his latest band Bad Lieutenant will release Never Cry Another Tear on October 6th. Blur’s Alex James and Joy Division/New Order drummer Stephen Morris guest on several tracks.
