Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi—who’s currently in a legal battle with Ozzy Osbourne over the rights to the band’s name—has signed a deal to allow Next Films to use Black Sabbath as the name of a horror movie franchise, The Hollywood Reporter reports, adding that Iommi will score the film. Ironically, before the band’s name was trademarked, Ozzy and the boys took their moniker from the 1963 Mario Bava horror film Black Sabbath.
The Smashing Pumpkins‘ Billy Corgan and members of Love and the Electric Prunes will perform tomorrow, July 24th at Los Angeles’s Echoplex for a tribute to the Seeds‘ Sky Saxon, LA Weekly reports. Legendary garage rocker Saxon, who scored a Top 40 hit in 1967 with “Pushin’ Too Hard,” passed away in June at the age of 71. “Sky was a complete spirit, in the truest sense of the word,” Corgan tells Rolling Stone.
Chris Cornell, Pepper, LMFAO, the Donnas, Kottonmouth Kings and many more will rock this year’s Sunset Strip Music Festival in Los Angeles on September 12th. The shows will take place at famed Strip venues like Viper Room, Whiskey A Go-Go, the Roxy Theatre and House of Blues, while the Sunset Strip will host its first-ever street festival to go along with the event.
Perez Hilton revealed the first artist to sign to his WMG-affiliated record label Perezcious, inking French singer Sliimy, EW writes. As Rock Daily previously reported, rumors of Hilton’s record label were confirmed earlier this month, with the gossip blogger saying, “I have an ear, which is really important in the music world.”
