Taylor Swift has long professed her love of Def Leppard, and now another young country starlet has admitted her love of pop metal. Miley Cyrus’ first concert — after seeing dad Billy Ray Cyrus shake his achy, breaky mullet onstage, of course — was a Poison show. So it should come as little surprise to anyone that Miley’s tackling one of the band’s most beloved classics. According to sources, Cyrus was recently in New York to record a cover of Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” and rumor has it Poison frontman Bret Michaels guests on the track, which he wrote.

“ ‘Every Rose’ is one of her all-time favorite songs and she is really excited about cutting it,” Miley’s mom Tish told People, recalling Miley’s experience catching Poison’s live set in Nashville years ago. There’s no word yet on what Cyrus, who is 17, plans on doing with the cover. Cyrus just released her The Time of Our Lives EP in August, and at this point, there has been no talk of a new album.

Cyrus recently admitted she’s not a huge Jay-Z devotee (and that the famous line referring to hearing Jigga on the radio in “Party in the U.S.A.” was penned by someone else), but we do know she’s a fan of Radiohead. Perhaps had Thom Yorke and Co. not spurned her advances backstage at the Grammys last year, Cyrus would be busting out “Karma Police” instead of “Rose,” which Michaels broke out whenever possible on his reality-dating show Rock of Love. Cyrus recently covered “If It Makes You Happy” alongside Sheryl Crow at VH1’s Divas Live.

Blink-182 took to covering “Rose” on their recent tour, turning the track into a sing-along for a new generation. Check it out a snippet here:
