Jackson’s “This Is It” Film Adds Worldwide Advance Screenings

The October 28th release of Michael Jackson’s This Is It documentary will be preceded by “advance screenings” at about 2,000 theaters on the night of October 27th. In all, the two-week limited engagement of This Is It will come to more than 3,000 movie theaters around the world, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sony, who will release the film, will hold premieres in more than 25 cities around the world, with 15 of the debuts happening simultaneously on October 27th. According to THR, Los Angeles’ premiere will be held at the Nokia Theatre on October 27th at 6 p.m. PST.

In addition to L.A., the BBC lists New York, London, Berlin, Seoul, Moscow, Tokyo, Sydney, Paris and Rio de Janeiro as cities that will host premiere celebrations. More participating cities will be announced soon. “Michael Jackson has an army of fans everywhere around the world. By rolling out this film with simultaneous premieres and special advance screenings on October 27, we are giving the audiences an incredible opportunity to join together in celebration of Michael Jackson’s incredible career,” said Sony Pictures chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution Jeff Blake.

As Rolling Stone reported yesterday, a brief clip of Michael Jackson rehearsing Thriller’s “Human Nature” during rehearsals for his run of 50 concerts in London was posted on This Is It’s official YouTube page.
