Sublime will perform their first concert with new vocalist-guitarist Rome at Devore, California’s Smokeout Festival on October 24th. It is the first time the surviving members of Sublime have performed together as Sublime since May 24th, 1996, the day before Brad Nowell died. “People are talking about the upcoming show and using words like ‘reunion’ and ‘reformation,’ but neither term is correct,” drummer Bud Gaugh said in a statement. “This is a celebration.”

New Reviews: Flaming Lips, Bob Dylan and Dead By Sunrise
October 13th, 2009
After spending the last decade posting the symphonic Soft Bulletin, fighting Pink Robots and waving “The W.A.N.D.,” the Flaming Lips return their acid-soaked roots with their 12th album Embryonic, out today. A double-disc affair of Miles Davis-inspired skronk jazz, sludge riffs and intergalactic electronics, Wayne Coyne and gang are at their most off-the-wall in decades. “Despite tons of studio chaff (five songs are fragments named after zodiac signs), a theme emerges, something about keying into ...

October 13th, 2009
Regina Spektor took the Saturday Night Live stage over the long weekend to perform two numbers from this year’s excellent Far backed by a drummer, cellist and violinist: the quirky, upbeat “The Calculation” and the wistful, building “Eet.” (Check out “Eet” above and “The Calculation” after the jump.)
More demure than Lady Gaga’s theatrics on last week’s episode and U2’s explosive set on the season opener, Spektor’s vocals sounded stellar against the often unfriendly acoustics ...

The premiere episode of Gone Too Far, an Intervention-like show hosted by the late Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein, aired last night on MTV. Goldstein himself was a former addict who had ...
